Well, my parent's don't quite "get it" either... but they're accepting at least. I think maybe it's because i'm only semi-emo. I hang out with emos and like a lot of the emo things, but I don't really go overboard with the emo look or label. I'm just me.
Sorry to hear you're having issues with your parents, but at least they care. If they let you do whatever the heck you wanted to or thought was right then they woudln't be very good parents. I think it's cool when parents draw the line between being "friends" and being "parents". I'm still young, but already my parents have saved me from some VERY stupid mistakes I would have otherwise made. So, you're parents are acutally just doing their job. 
My suggestion is to try to talk to them about it. I know, it's hard as hell when they just don;t understand things! Still, maybe you can come to some sort of compromise. You are who you are and maybe they just need to know more about "emo" to feel comfortable with it. Good luck!

lol im parents done really care but i don't die my hair blue or black or anything sooo ... there is nothing for them to worry bout
but my dad keeps saying "im a emooo. im a emo" i don't know why. he just does. not making fun of me he just doesnt know what it means lol.

Except When I Cut They Blamed It All On Being Emo
(But It Waz Cuz Of This Boi)
And Then Screwed,
So I Had To Go See A Freaking Counsellor,
And In The Report On Miii She Wrote That I Am An 'Emu'
And Now Mii Parents Won't Stop Calling Mii An Emu.
But Other Than Screwing When I Cut They're Alright With It
Cuz They Let Mii Wear The Mayk-Up And Stuff

I never quite cared what my parents thought as they didn't really give a rats ass about anything related with me. So, at least you have parents who somewhat care. My opinion (or is it the world's greatest advice?) is to just be you and not worry about what others think. YOU live your life, not anyone else.

Hey little miss Emu (isn't that an fing pony or something?), why the hell would you cut yourself over some boy? The problem is too many girls are all about "Wahhh wahhh" when it comes to guys. Just live your life and let things roll off. If someone dumps you, move on. Just have fun and live. Geesh. I mean, WTF reason would you have to cut yourself? Your a good looking girl. im to scared to tell my mom or dad that im emo because they would ask to see my wrist every day and it's the only way for me to be in less pain so i dont plan on telling them i just hint it with songs

If you do cut you should do therapy. I have to..gahhh. But its fun if you get someone who is nice and isnt just going to throw you on meds. And stuff like art therapy, and music therapy, its always nice to have someone to talk to that you know will give you the healthiest ways to deal with things lolz. If you don't cut try telling your parents what emo is truly about. Or say your scene lol. But really get them to listen =)

Well my parents they hate emo even my big bro and I don't have sis to help me
And they hate my cousin guess y cuz she's emo
And my last year was soo crazy I wasn't in home and my mom was in my room and she found my dairy and she read it
In then from that second my life is over
I can't buy my own clothes alone even when I wear black she ground me for mounths
And she swear if she sow me wearing black or there's make up on my face
She will take every thing from me
Even when I'm trying to talk to her she keep saying
I'm now saving ur life u'll thank me " WTF"
What can I do ????

why dont you try explaining what "emo" is. And that taking away the things that help you express yourself is surpressing you as a person. And that you have feelings and likes and dislikes. And that how you dress, wear make up, etc is all apart of you are. You can say you are experimenting or that it may not last forever. But its unfair to be treated lower and to have the things that make you, you taken away.

Same all my friends think I am emo and I am
I tryed to tell my mom but I broke into tears beause is painful to tell someone that I bottle everything inside all the time but I can't take it

i'd say the best way to avoid parental conflict is to never mention being emo. since i'm into punk, grunge, and stuff as well as emo, i talk about them all equally so my parents don't assume i'm conforming to one specific culture. i dress full on emo every day, and have never had a problem because they don't realise i actually am emo beyond wearing the style. communication is so overrated -two thumbs up-
