Both music genres delve into depression, desperation, and fits of rage. Personally, I think there's just a thin line between the two. So here we are, faced with this battle of sorts...

BOTH! Yeah yeah... not what you wanted to hear, but I find both have their appeal (as does music not in either category). I mean, deep dark depressing music just touches your soul in ways you can't explain, while every now and again you need something aggressive yet meaningful. I don't know if that makes sense, but so be it.

I go for EMO!!! It's deeper and more sentimental. It digs into your very soul. It's about life and how life often sucks. Screamo, on the other hand, is more shouting than singing and expressing. I sometimes enjoy listening to screamo, but not as much as I enjoy emo music.

Screamo for me!
What I dig about screamo is the way the band conveys the raw emotion inside... it's like awakening a long-slumbering dragon through the songs that they sing. Emo songs are kinda boring and weak for my taste, and they tend to be sad and sappy at times.
Screamo is just pure adrenaline. Love it!
