A lot of emo people that I have encountered are either suicidal or maniacal. I'm a self-proclaimed emo myself, but I don't feel sad and depressed. In fact, most of the time, I'm deliriously happy and excited with life! But my friends tell me that I'm a fake because of my happy disposition.
Is it a crime for an emo to be happy? Am I betraying the emo code (if there is one)?

Well, part of being an emo is that you're emotional (hence, Emo). I guess if you swing it to the up side most of the time no one will shun you. At least not the inner circle of Emo friends I hang with (most of which are the creators of this website). I do admit I'm a bit emotional myself... and often get depressed by the world. I mean, how can you not? Read some news headlines... local or from anywhere in the world... and you'll be depressed.

I don't know. I always thought emo is plain black. You are more inclined to do pink with yellow fluffy feathers all over. I'm not sure, but you don't sound very emo to me. How can you be so sure you're emo, by the way?

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes i just wake up with heaps of energy and feel like going for run. On these days
i go to my perticularly moody friend who always feeds me come of her depression.

I guess you can be happy, but just not bubbly. They're different. I think someone in full black (clothes, make-up and all) jumping around with a big happy grin on his face is totally a complete eye sore. It just does not work. Sure, be happy. But if you start wearing pink due to happiness, don't ever call yourself emo!!!

i think emos can be happy, why not? Arent emos just supposed to be expressive in emotional ways? And i think secene is BS becuz then your just normal lol

Well, I just show mix emotions, and so do all my other friends.
And most of the Emo people I know are either happy for some weird reason or depressed.
Other than that, I don't know.

Though there never was a rule or a code that you cant be happy and you have to be depressed the rest of your life. Defiantly not a crime either unless your in a government building in Russia which their laws they made is really stupid.
